It operates through five segments: Exploration and Production, Refining, Marketing and Distribution, Chemicals, and Corporate and Others. The company explores and develops oil fields; produces crude oil and natural gas; processes and purifies crude oil; manufactures and sells petroleum products; owns and operates oil depots and service stations; and distributes and sells refined petroleum products, including gasoline and diesel. It also manufactures and sells petrochemical and derivative petrochemical products; and other chemical products, such as basic organic chemicals, synthetic resins, synthetic fiber monomers and polymers, synthetic fibers, synthetic rubber, and chemical fertilizers. In addition, the company explores, produces, and sells petroleum and natural gas; produces, stores, and sells petrochemical and coal chemical products; trades in crude oil and petrochemical products; produces and sells catalyst products, lubricant base oil, polyester chips and fibers, plastics, refined petroleum products, and petrochemical materials; markets and distributes petrochemical and refined petroleum products; and imports and processes crude oil. Further, it provides well drilling and logging, and downhole operational services; resin and plastics, intermediate petrochemical, and petroleum products; crude oil jetty and natural gas pipeline transmission services; manufacturing and maintenance of production equipment, engineering construction, and utility services, as well as engages in the coal chemical industry investment management activities; and research and development, production, and sale of ethylene and downstream by-products. The company was incorporated in 2000 and is headquartered in Beijing, China. China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation is a subsidiary of China Petrochemical Corporation.
